[CentOS]: How To Install and Configure transparent squid proxy on RHEL and CentOS
First of all, configure your system as a router
visible_hostname www.howtoistart.com
## Define local network ##
## make sure that local network is allowed ##
## finally deny everything else ##
Now we will start Squid service and make sure it is service running to startup.
Note : Squid is using port number 3128 by squid service.
Now Select lan card for trusted and masquerade device.
Redirect your request, if your trusted nic card ip is 192.168.0.1
DNS config for squid in transparent mode. Now install DNS Server on Redhat/CentOS.
Now create a empty file named.conf.
Set local DNS in your resolver
Most Important Note :
In the client side set DNS and Gateway. If your trusted device ip is 192.168.0.1, So the set client side gateway is 192.168.0.1 and DNS is also 192.168.0.1.
quid is a web cache and web filtering server which is able to do caching and helps in improving the performance of web access for clients. It can deliver either the static and dynamic content or streaming way. It helps to increase web browsing speed to its end clients.
